Who are we?

Variety Underground @the Parkside Lounge

Founded in April 2003 by Sean Taylor and Tony Carnevale, Variety Underground is a free monthly comedy variety show at the Parkside Lounge in the Lower East Side of New York City. A breeding ground for talent, VU is proud to include Aziz Ansari, talk show host Dave Hill, beatboxer extraordinairre Shockwave, and Channel 102 founder Tony Carnevale among its friendly alums. The current hosts are Sean Taylor and Shawn Amaro.

Sean Taylor founder/host
In addition to VU, Sean hosts a talk show called The Spotlight which features guests who have been on TV. He can also be seen performing at the Magnet Theater with his improv troupe Junior Varsity. Sean loves podcasting, darts, and the Mets. He also eats pizza every day of October (Pizza Month) and runs the NYC Marathon each November.

Shawn Amaro host
Shawn can be seen in local musical improv troops and filming projects around the city. He loves improv, music, movies and food. Not necessarily in that order. Food is his favorite. He is currently working on an album and editing a few short films.
